Class 4 Fundraiser

Another fantastic afternoon was had by all our pupils at the Class 4 Fundraiser on Friday 19th July, despite the weather and holding the event indoors.

Nothing could dampen the wonderful atmosphere! The children were raising money in aid of cancer research UK. We believe at FPS that we have a responsibility to help other people and we support a range of charities over the year.

What is so impressive with this afternoon is that the children organise the entire event themselves – planning and running the stalls, providing the equipment and the prizes and setting up and packing away. A fantastic achievement!

An incredible £326.50 was raised, amazing! We are so very proud of our Class 4 children.

2019 Summer Fair

A super afternoon was had by all at our Summer Fair after school on Friday 5 July. Such a wonderful afternoon and the range of stalls was amazing.

Thank you so very much to all those parents, friends and grandparents who ran stalls or donated prizes and all those who came and joined in the fun.We really do appreciate all your support and your generosity in raising funds for the school. A big thank you to Mr Hurst for providing the ice-poles and drinks for Sports Day and the Summer Fair.

The fair raised an unbelievable £1800!

The final mention must go to Amanda Smith and Claire Voce for all their amazing efforts with the organisation – the work this takes cannot be underestimated— a HUGE THANK YOU to you both!

2019 Let’s Sing

A fantastic evening was had by all the schools in the Trust on 20 June 2019, at the Albert Hall in Nottingham!

400 children from the 10 schools’ choirs came together to celebrate singing. It is the first time Flintham have taken part and it was such an amazing and uplifting event! Our choir, under the expert directorship of Amanda Crawford, as always sang beautifully making us all so very proud. The children had attended a workshop in the afternoon – practicing individual and group songs and then performed in front of parents in the evening. This is definitely going to be another annual event.

Please look in our private gallery at photos and to find a video link to view a sample of the evening concert.

Friends of Flintham Jumble Sale

JUMBO
An amazing £610 was raised by our FOF at Saturday’s Jumble sale at East Bridgford!
A huge THANK YOU to all our donators, helpers and parents for making this such a successful fund raising event and willingly giving up their valuable spare time. A special mention to the organisers: Mrs Lambert, Mrs Storey and Mrs Otton for all their hard work.

Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

FPS entered our first ever Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on Thursday 6 June, 2109.

Our Class 4 team of 5 girls and 6 boys had a brilliant Equals Trust day practising skills in the morning and playing 4 matches in the afternoon. Some of the coaches were members of the GB Team!

All of our players performed so competitively and we came a very respectable 7th out of 12 teams. Remember we are the smallest school. Our proudest moment was being one of the 3 teams mentioned for showing true sportsmanship in the ‘Spirit of the Game’ competition. Well done team! We’re definitely entering next year!

Class 4 Residential 2019

A super time was had by Class 4 in sunny Scarborough in the three days leading up to half-term. The children were a delight to take away and spend time with and the weather was fabulous.

Our adventure began at Eden Camp, an ex POW camp that has been turned into a WWII Museum, it really brings such an important period in our history to life. Next it was on to Scarborough Youth Hostel.

The following morning we were up and out early, spending time playing on the beach before having a rock pooling session led by a local expert. We learned about and caught a variety of crabs as well as finding other shellfish and anemones. After this it was off to the Sea life Centre. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the vast range of marine animals including sea horses, otters, seals and penguins. A highlight of the visit was finding out about how amazing starfish are—ask one of the children to tell you, they really are stars! Also, we got to see the fantastic giant turtle being given her tea.

Next it was off for a well earned ice-cream before heading back to the youth hostel. Many of the children rose to the challenge of taking part in our talent show, where many hidden talents came to light—comedy , piano playing, singing and magic acts! A great evening was had by all.

Friday morning was glorious and we are so proud of the children as they yomped all the way from the North to the South beach, not one murmur of being tired! We were then treated to a tour of the RNLI Lifeboat station and a chance to get up close to their boats and all the kit the crew wear. Finally, we had a picnic on the beach, keeping a tight hold on our sandwiches because of the seagulls, before catching the coach and coming back to school.

A big THANK YOU to Miss Pykett and Mr Knott for helping make our residential such a pleasure and well done children for being such good company. Roll on next year! Please look in the private gallery to view all the photos.

Easter Gardens Competition 2019

What a wonderful morning we had at FPS with the arrival of all the amazing entries for our Easter Garden Competition on Thursday 4 April, 2019! We all enjoyed studying each and every one of them. So creative and such a variety, we loved all the different themes; we knew our children would rise to the challenge. Well done to all the children who took part. They were so very difficult to judge. Enjoy the photos below of all the entries and please look in our private gallery to see our winners.

Equals Trust Story Telling Evening

Thursday 28 March, 2019

A super evening was had by members of all the Equals Trust schools when the finale of the Story Telling Project was held at Heymann Primary School on Thursday. Parents were invited to celebrate the culmination of the children’s work with the story teller, Mike Peyton.

Mike had previously visited our school to help the children experience the art of story telling and 4 children were chosen to perform their story to another school in the trust. This evening, each school’s 4 children performed their story to parents and each other. Niamh, Leo, Lois and Euan from FPS gave an outstanding performance and with the added pressure of being the first act!

A really special evening and we are so very proud of our children. We look forward to being part of other Equals Trust events in the future.

Year 4 Residential 2019

26th – 27th March 2019

A fantastic residential was had by all our Year 4 children and teachers this week. On Wednesday we spent the day at Conkers where the children had a great time. We especially enjoyed exploring all the tunnels in the new rabbit warren exhibit and getting wet during the 4D cinema experience.

All the children ate really well at the youth hostel and were soon fast asleep, so were the teachers! After a hearty breakfast, we all set off for Bradgate Park, Leicester. We are so impressed with how well the children met the challenge of such a long walk and all made it to the highest point to take in the breath taking views. Lots of deer roaming around as well. Some very tired children on the return journey.

Thank you Year 4 for making it such an enjoyable couple of days and a big thank you to all the staff for giving up their time!
