School Council/Ambassador Meeting Minutes
Reading Challenge
On 30th September and 7th October, school council met to discuss how reading can be improved across the school, particularly encouraging children to read at home and develop a love for reading. They came up with the idea of a reading bookmark/challenge. After half term, we will be kicking off with a reading challenge organised by the reading ambassadors and the school council. The children will meet for the next couple of week to agree and sort a plan.
Community and Charity – Children in Need
On 7th October, the community and charity ambassadors met to discuss the upcoming Children in Need. The theme this year is 25. Once again, the ambassadors have been amazing and come up with lots of different ideas linked to the theme. A letter, written by the ambassadors, will be coming out very soon. The date of Children in Need is Friday 14th November.
Update – 1/12/25 – Children in Need
Children in Need was a truly fantastic celebration, and we couldn’t be prouder of our incredible children! Their enthusiasm, generosity, and determination helped raise an outstanding amount of money for this important cause….£1177! Thank you to every child, parent, and sponsor who contributed. We were absolutely blown away by the support!
Throughout the week, the children took on our exciting 25-lap challenge with energy and smiles, showing real commitment and teamwork, despite the bad weather. The week culminated in a joyful non-uniform day on Friday, bringing everyone together to celebrate their achievements in style.
A huge well done to everyone involved—you’ve made a real difference and shown the true spirit of giving!
Creative meeting – Christmas Bauble Design
On 11th November, our Creative Ambassadors gathered to brainstorm ideas for an exciting activity to enrich the autumn term. As if by perfect timing, news arrived about a Christmas Bauble Decorating Competition hosted by Belvoir Castle. Inspired by the opportunity, the ambassadors enthusiastically agreed it would be a fantastic event for the whole school to take part in—especially as we’re in need of some fresh baubles for our Christmas tree in school! The ambassadors agreed to take the lead in spreading the word: they helped craft a newsletter announcement and confidently presented the details during assembly, ensuring every pupil knew how to get involved.
Update – 1/12/25 – Christmas Bauble Competition
We were thrilled to receive such a stunning and imaginative collection of baubles for the Belvoir Castle Bauble Competition. Each entry showcased incredible creativity and care—what a festive feast for the eyes.
Our lucky winner was selected by our Creative Ambassadors, Ayla and Isabelle, along with Mrs.Sharphouse and Mrs.Otton who were especially impressed by the bauble’s originality and artistic flair. Congratulations to the talented artist!
As an added bonus, we now have a beautiful selection of handmade decorations to brighten up our school Christmas tree. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this a truly magical celebration of creativity.
